Moore Islands

Moore Islands (52˚40'00" 129˚25'00" Off NW side of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Capt J J Moore worked for the Canadian Hydrographic Service from 1915 until at least 1944 (though he served in the RCN for several years during WWI). He was sailing master aboard the survey vessels Lillooet (1922–32) and William J Stewart (1932–44). The establishment of a Fishermen Reserve Service on the BC coast during WWII is said to have been his original idea. The Moore Is were named for him in 1926....
