Mount Irving


Mount Irving (52˚45'58" 128˚53'58" S side of Henderson Lk, S end of Princess Royal I). Capt William Irving (1816–72) was born at Annan, Scotland, and went to sea at a young age. He learned the steamboat trade in NB and Oregon, finding financial success on the Willamette and Columbia rivers before arriving at Victoria in the late 1850s. With his partner, Capt Alexander Murray, he established a paddlewheel fleet on the Fraser R and Harrison Lk, then bought Murray out, sold the company in 1862...
