Nevay Island


Nevay Island (52˚12'00" 128˚09'00" Entrance to Ormidale Hbr, N side of Campbell I, just N of Bella Bella). The Scottish poet John Nevay (1792–1870) was born and educated at Forfar, N of Dundee in the council area of Angus. He worked as a handloom weaver but gained a minor reputation for his lyric verse, published in half a dozen small volumes over the course of his life. Named by RN surveyor Lt Daniel Pender about 1867.
