Norway Island

Norway Island (48˚59'00" 123˚37'00" Trincomali Channel, E of Kuper I, Gulf Is). Horatio Fillis Norway served on the Pacific Station, 1853–56, as master aboard HMS Trincomalee, under Capt Wallace Houstoun. He was promoted to staff cdr in 1863. Capt George Richards named this feature Indian I in 1859, but Cdr John Parry of HMS Egeria, seeking something more distinctive, changed it to Norway I while re-surveying the area in 1905.
