Oaks Point


Oaks Point (49˚30'00" 124˚00'00" NE point of N Thormanby I, S end of Malaspina Str, NW of Sechelt and Vancouver). Capt George Richards and his officers, aboard the RN survey vessel Plumper, apparently enjoyed the occasional flutter. They gave the area many horse-racing names in 1860 after hearing happy news of that year’s Epsom Derby.
