Ormiston Point

Ormiston Point (53˚34'00" 129˚39'00" W side of Grenville Channel, NW of Lowe Inlet, E side of Pitt I). Master mariner Silas Charles Herbert Ormiston (1874–1925) was born on Cape Breton I. In 1902 he married Clara May Morash (1874–1950), also from NS, and moved to Victoria, where he joined the CPR’s BC Coast Steamship Service as a quartermaster in 1905. Ormiston was appointed master of the Otter in 1912 and later commanded both the Princess Royal and the Princess Mary. He retired in 1924...
