Osborn Bay


Osborn Bay (48˚52'00" 123˚38'00" W side of Stuart Channel, just N of Crofton, SE side of Vancouver I). Named in 1859 by Capt George Richards of the survey ship Plumper after well-known RN officer Sherard Osborn, CB (1822–75). Osborn entered the navy as a lowly sailor and served as a gunner’s mate aboard HMS Collingwood while that vessel was Rear Adm Sir George Seymour’s flagship on the Pacific Station, 1843–46.
