Parker Island


Parker Island (48˚53'00" 123˚25'00" E side of Trincomali Channel, W of S end of Galiano I, Gulf Is). Lt George Ferdinand Hastings Parker of the RN served on the Pacific Station, 1857–60, at first in HMS Ganges, flagship of Rear Adm Robert Baynes, and then in HMS Scout, under Capt John Price. He entered the RN in 1848, and before coming to the Pacific was appointed to HMS Duke of Wellington, the RN’s finest battleship. Parker retired with the rank of capt in 1882.
