Penn Islands


Penn Islands (50˚11'00" 125˚01'00" In Sutil Channel, E of Read I, NE of Campbell R). In 1864, Capt George Richards, who had played an important role surveying the BC coast since 1857, was named the RN’s chief hydrographer. In honour of this occasion, Lt Daniel Pender, who had assisted Richards and since taken over the BC survey, named a number of features in the vicinity after officers working in the Admiralty’s hydrographic office in London.
