Pilling Rock

Pilling Rock (50˚24'00" 127˚59'00" SW of Harvey Cove, S entrance to Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). Alfred Edward Pilling (1864–1951), a master stonemason from Norfolk, England, came to Quatsino with his wife, Theresa, and two children around 1904. He homesteaded and prospected and received a Crown grant for land in the area in 1911, but the family moved to the drier climate of Kamloops about 1913 when Mrs Pilling became ill.
