Point Ellice

Point Ellice (48˚26'00" 123˚22'00" NW point of Upper Hbr, Victoria Hbr, SE end of Vancouver I). Edward “Bear” Ellice (1783–1863) was a powerful London merchant-banker and a director of the HBC. He became involved in the fur trade, in which his wealthy father had business interests, in the early 1800s, travelling frequently between London and Canada, where he also owned considerable property.
