Pointer Island


Pointer Island (52˚03'49" 127˚56'55" W side of Fisher Channel, off NE end of Hunter I, SE of Bella Bella). A lighthouse station was built here in 1899 to mark the S entrance to Lama Passage. It was operated for many years by members of the Codville family (see Codville Hill). The original building was demolished and replaced with more modern facilities in 1949, but the station was eventually deemed obsolete and replaced by an automated light. It was dismantled in 1989.
