Pride Rock (52˚39'00" 128˚51'00" N end of Laredo Sd, off S side of Princess Royal I). Sapper Charles Pride (1837–97) was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He apparently chose to stay on in BC after the unit was disbanded, but little is known of his later life. He was listed as being an inmate of the New Westminster insane asylum in 1896.
