Priestland Cove (49˚31'00" 123˚55'00" In Halfmoon Bay, Str of Georgia, NW of Sechelt and Vancouver). Charles Priestland, a plasterer by trade, pre-empted land on this cove in 1892 and settled there with his English wife, Clara (1858–1933). A wharf was built, steamships stopped, and from 1904 to 1931, Clara ran the local post office, which was originally called Welcome Pass but renamed Halfmoon Bay in 1914.
