Purvis Point


Purvis Point (49˚08'00" 123˚49'00" W end of Mudge I, S of Gabriola I, Gulf Is). Lt John Child Purvis (1832–1904) served on the Pacific Station, 1859–61, aboard HMS Pylades, under Capt Michael de Courcy. He came from an old naval family and entered the RN in 1845, winning promotion to lt in 1854 and cdr in 1865.
