Quarry Bay


Quarry Bay (49˚40'00" 124˚08'00" S side of Nelson I, Malaspina Str, SE of Powell R). Nelson I granite, highly regarded for its density and weight, has been quarried since the 1880s, with the first large-scale operations taking place next to this bay in 1894, when BC stone was chosen for the huge US Navy drydock at Bremerton, Washington.
