Quarry Point

Quarry Point (52˚54'00" 128˚31'00" W side of Graham Reach, N of Sarah I, E side of Princess Royal I). Named by the hydrographic service in 1949 after two quarries that operated near this spot in the 1910s and supplied limestone to BC’s first pulp mill at nearby Swanson Bay. Calcium compounds from limestone are used in the kraft pulping process to recover and recycle the sodium compounds that “cook” the wood chips and break them down.
