Quascilla Bay (51˚17'00" 127˚22'00" S side of Smith Inlet, N of Port Hardy). Named in 1890 by Capt John Walbran after the former First Nation inhabitants of the area, who are part of the larger Kwakwaka’wakw cultural confederacy and known today as the Gwa’sala. (This word, which has been translated as “northern people,” has had many spellings over the years, including Goasila, Kwasila and Quoasi’la.)
