Queen Charlotte Channel


Queen Charlotte Channel (49˚22'00" 123˚18'00" E of Bowen I, SE Howe Sd, just NW of Vancouver). Capt George Richards named many features in Howe Sd in 1859–60 after the officers and vessels that participated in the 1794 English Channel battle known as the Glorious First of June. HMS Queen Charlotte, a 104-gun line-of-battle ship built at Chatham in 1790, was Adm Lord Howe’s flagship in this famous engagement with the French fleet, in which seven French vessels were captured or destroyed....
