Richards Island

Richards Island (48˚27'00" 123˚26'00" Thetis Cove, E side of Esquimalt Hbr, SE end of Vancouver I). Lt Fleetwood John Richards was a Royal Marines officer aboard HMS Fisgard, under Capt John Duntze, on the Pacific Station, 1843–47. He went on to a significant career in the marines, reaching the rank of maj gen in the light infantry in the mid-1880s.
