Roe Islet

Roe Islet (48˚48'00" 123˚19'00" In Otter Bay, W side of N Pender I, Gulf Is). Robert Roe (1854–1939) immigrated to Canada from Glasgow with his wife and sons in 1896 and worked as an engineer on CPR coastal steamers. He then pre-empted land on N Pender I and farmed. In 1907 the Roes bought additional property on N Pender that they eventually turned into a popular summer resort named Roesland, which operated until 1994.
