Rudlin Bay


Rudlin Bay (48˚25'00" 123˚14'00" S side of Discovery I, just E of Oak Bay and Victoria). George Rudlin (c 1834–1903), born in Essex, got his first job at age 12 on a fishing boat. He served in the RN during the Crimean War and immigrated to BC in 1856. In 1862, with a partner named Jay, he proceeded to log Discovery I, just E of Victoria, and then acquired the schooner Discovery (formerly the Circus) at Victoria the following year.
