Rutley Islands (48˚58'00" 125˚10'00" S of entrance to Effingham Inlet, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). John Irwin A Rutley (b 1903), originally from Ont, grew up in Sask and graduated from the Univ of Sask as a civil engineer in 1930. He joined the Canadian Hydrographic Service that year and participated in dozens of surveys between 1930 and 1948, visiting almost every part of the BC coast.
