Santiago Mountain


Santiago Mountain (49˚48'08" 126˚36'28" E side of Tahsis Inlet, above mouth of the Tsowwin R, opposite Nootka I, W side of Vancouver I). The 25-m, 205-tonne Santiago, built at San Blas, Mexico, about 1773, was the vessel commanded by Spanish naval officer and explorer Juan Pérez when he became the first European to sight the BC coast, in 1774 (see Juan Perez Sd).
