Sarita Bay


Sarita Bay (48˚53'00" 125˚02'00" S side of Numukamis Bay, E side of Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). While the origin of this name is not really known, it appears (in the form of Sarita Valley) on Admiralty charts as early as 1861. In Spanish, Sarita is a diminutive for Sara, and it is just possible that the feature was named by Spanish naval officer José Narváez, who explored and surveyed Barkley Sd in 1789.
