Second Narrows


Second Narrows (49˚18'00" 123˚02'00" Burrard Inlet, S of mouth of Seymour R, Vancouver). This constriction, formed where the deltas of Lynn Ck and Seymour R extend into the inlet, was named by RN surveyor Capt George Richards about 1859–60 (as was First Narrows). Several proposals were made to bridge the site in the 1910s, but nothing was constructed until 1925, when the N Shore municipalities formed the Burrard Inlet Tunnel & Bridge Co and a combined road/rail crossing was completed.
