Shapland Cove

Shapland Cove (50˚29'00" 127˚48'00" N side of Quatsino Sd, just E of Koprino Hbr, NW end of Vancouver I). Master mariner George Shapland (1839–1921) pre-empted land on this cove in 1912 and acquired a Crown grant for his property in 1919. He also received Crown grants in the New Westminster land district in 1906 and 1907. Shapland is believed to have immigrated to BC with his second wife sometime after 1892, when his first wife, Ellen (née Harrison), died in England. He apparently also...
