Shears Islands

Shears Islands (49˚00'00" 125˚19'00" N end of David Channel, S of Toquart Bay, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Walter Shears (1853–1918) received a Crown grant of land on the W side of Toquart Bay in 1892. An early immigrant to Victoria from England, he worked as a clerk for J H Turner’s wholesale business and married Anne Pickstone (b 1854), also from England, at Victoria in 1874.
