Shields Point


Shields Point (49˚33'00" 124˚40'00" N side of Hornby I, W side of Str of Georgia). A number of individuals named Shields reserved land on Hornby I in the late 1800s. James Shields was a very early pre-emptor, in 1873, while the application of F W Shields is dated 1887. Theo N Shields received a Crown grant for his property in 1891. This feature, which is also known locally as Grassy Point, is named after F W Shields.
