Slater Rocks


Slater Rocks (51˚01'00" 127˚32'00" Entrance to Allison Hbr, NW side of Queen Charlotte Str, N of Port Hardy). Arthur Slater (1876–1955), a native of the Shetland Is, served with the BC Coast Steamship Service for 40 years. He was listed as a deckhand on the Princess Louise in the 1901 BC census and rose in the ranks to become master of that vessel and also of the Princess Joan and other CPR steamships. Slater retired from the BCCSS in 1941 and died at Victoria.
