Smyth Passage


Smyth Passage (54˚05'00" 132˚31'00" Between Alexandra Narrows and Virago Sd, N side of Graham I, QCI). Named in 1907 by Capt Frederick Learmonth of HMS Egeria after one of his officers, Lt Sydney Keith Smyth. Smyth, who assisted Learmonth with a re-survey of the Virago Sd area that year, went on to attain the rank of capt and commanded the light cruiser Enterprise and armed merchant cruiser Scotstoun in WWII.
