Snowden Island

Snowden Island (49˚02'00" 125˚20'00" Toquart Bay, N side of Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Northing Pinckney Snowden (c 1859–1904) acquired a Crown land grant NW of Toquart Bay in 1892. This was presumably for investment purposes, as he seems an unlikely homesteader. Six years earlier, for instance, in 1886, he had married Emily Ellen Dunsmuir (1864–1944), a daughter of industrialist Robert Dunsmuir, BC’s wealthiest man.
