Spouter Island


Spouter Island (49˚37'00" 126˚33'00" Part of the Spanish Pilot Group, SW of Bligh I, Nootka Sd, W side of Vancouver I). In 1934, regional hydrographer Henri Parizeau attempted to change this name to Salamanca I, after the Spanish pilot Secundino Salamanca, 2nd officer of the Sutil, employed in the exploration of the E coast of Vancouver I and the adjacent mainland in 1792 (see Salamanca Point).
