Statham Point


Statham Point (50˚31'00" 125˚32'00" E side of Lough-borough Inlet, N of W Thurlow I and Johnstone Str, NW of Campbell R). A notation at BC’s Geographical Names Office states that this feature was probably named after the hamlet of Statham, in Cheshire, England, which could have been the birthplace of one of the naval officers involved in the Admiralty surveys of the region in 1860–62 (by Capt George Richards) or 1863–69 (by Lt Daniel Pender).
