Sulphur Passage


Sulphur Passage (49˚24'00" 126˚04'00" E of Obstruction I, S of Shelter Inlet, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named by the hydrographic service in 1945 for HMS Sulphur, which in 1835 embarked on a lengthy surveying expedition under Capt Edward Beechey to the W coasts of N and S America, accompanied by HMS Starling under Lt Cdr Henry Kellett.
