Swordfish Island


Swordfish Island (48˚19'00" 123˚35'00" Off SW side of Rocky Point, off S tip of Vancouver I). The 660-tonne British sailing ship Swordfish, under Capt J S Handley, ran aground here in 1877 and was completely wrecked. The vessel was on its way from San Francisco to Burrard Inlet when it drifted onto the rocks in the middle of the night and was holed and dismasted.
