The Cut


The Cut (48˚59'05" 123˚39'40" Between Thetis I and Kuper I, Gulf Is). This artificial canal allows small boats to pass between Thetis I and Kuper I, which would normally be joined at low tide, and to approach Telegraph Hbr from the E. The passage, originally dug in 1905 and dredged regularly, is sometimes incorrectly referred to as The Gut. The islands were rejoined with a bridge after The Cut was created, but this was removed in 1945, partly (and unsuccessfully) to prevent cattle from Kuper...
