Triangle Island


Triangle Island (50˚52'00" 129˚05'00" Westernmost of the Scott Is, W of Cape Scott, off NW end of Vancouver I). According to coastal historian Capt John Walbran, the island is named for its shape, but as the surface area is only vaguely triangular, the reference is probably to the feature’s vertical appearance, which is somewhat conical when seen from a ship. The name first appears on an Admiralty chart dated 1863. The island was home to BC’s highest and most powerful lighthouse from 1910...
