Tsimpsean Peninsula


Tsimpsean Peninsula (54˚22'00" 130˚15'00" Extending NW from Prince Rupert, between Chatham Sd and Work Channel). Adopted in 1927 to recognize the First Nation people who have traditionally occupied this territory—and whose name is more commonly spelled Tsimshian today. The word is pronounced SIM-shin and has had many spellings over the years, including Chimsain, Tsimp-Sheean and Chimsyan.
