Van Nevel Channel (49˚09'00" 125˚56'00" N of Templar Channel, E of Stubbs I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Oblate Fr John Adolphe van Nevel (b 1855), a native of Belgium, was based at the Tla-o-qui-aht village of Opitsat on Meares I, 1895–1900, as the Roman Catholic missionary and teacher for Clayoquot Sd.
