Victor Island


Victor Island (49˚40'00" 126˚09'00" In Muchalat Inlet, N of mouth of the Jacklah R, E of Nootka Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Maj Frederick Victor Longstaff (1879–1961) received a Crown grant to this island in 1913. He was born in Yorkshire and came to Victoria in 1911, where he served as an army officer and also worked as an architectural draftsman, helping design St John’s Anglican church and the James Bay Anglican Hall. He married Jennie Long McCulloch (1880–1957) at Victoria in 1921....
