Whitmore Islands

Whitmore Islands (52˚38'00" 129˚26'00" SW of Moore Is, off W side of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Cpl Henry Whitmore was a cavalry non-commissioned officer who accompanied the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers to BC. He and another cavalry man, Sgt John Smith, both members of the 15th Hussars, were sent to organize and train any volunteer cavalry squadrons that might be needed in BC.
