Woodcock Islands

Woodcock Islands (52˚36'00" 129˚11'00" W of Clifford Bay, off W side of Aristazabal I). Cpl John Woodcock (b 1830), a native of Birmingham, was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He arrived at Victoria aboard the Thames City with the main contingent of men in 1859 and spent much of his time helping supervise the construction of the Old Cariboo Road, especially between Lillooet and Clinton.
