ANSCOMB, Herbert, politician (b 1892, Maidstone, England; d 1972, Victoria). He immigrated to BC in 1911 and found work in VICTORIA as an office clerk. Eventually he became a chartered accountant and long-time manager of the Victoria Phoenix Brewery Co. He began his political career as reeve of OAK BAY from 1925 to 1927 and served as mayor of Victoria from 1929 to 1931.
