Atchelitz

ATCHELITZ is a farming community (see AGRICULTURE) in the FRASER VALLEY, 6 km southwest of CHILLIWACK. The name is a HALKOMELEM word for "bottom," which perhaps derives from the way Atchelitz Crk skirts the base of Chilliwack Mt. Atchelitz school dates from 1892. A nearby museum of antique agricultural equipment is open in the summer.
