Bear Flat

BEAR FLAT is a tiny farming and stock-raising settlement 25 km west of FORT ST JOHN on the north shore of the PEACE R. A post office operated here from 1924 to 1950. Alexander MACKENZIE saw "2 grissly and hideous bears" here on his historic 1793 journey to the West Coast.
