BECHER, Frederick, pioneer rancher (b 1862, India; d 1936, Riske Creek). He was a former HBC employee who started a trading post at RISKE CREEK with a partner, George Dester. Dester returned to England but Becher went on to develop a landmark stopping place, store, ranch and saloon. Many CHILCOTIN ranchers got their start at Becher Place.
