RISKE CREEK, pop 165, 47 km west of WILLIAMS LAKE on the Chilcotin Hwy (Hwy 20; see ROADS AND HWYS), is the CHILCOTIN's oldest pioneer community, named for L.W. Riskie, a farmer who settled in the area in 1868. The name refers to the tiny community and the large geographic area that surrounds it.
