Belize Inlet

BELIZE INLET is a long (40 km), narrow finger of water on the mainland coast just south of Cape Caution, entered via NAKWAKTO RAPIDS. During the initial naval survey of the inlet in 1865 by the steamer BEAVER, it was named after the capital of the British Honduras, where Frederick SEYMOUR had served prior to being appointed governor of BC in 1864. The steep-sided shores have undergone extensive LOGGING.
