BOWERING, George, writer (b 1 Dec 1936, Okanagan Falls). While studying at UBC he belonged to a group of writers influenced by the American Black Mountain poets Robert Creeley, Robert Duncan and Charles Olson. In 1961 he helped to found the poetry magazine TISH, which gave voice to a new poetics in VANCOUVER. He taught at SFU for many years.
